Help Recording through PC with Audacity and iMic

I want to record (online radio) through my PC using the AUdacity software and a Griffin iMic
In the past I did this when the audio source was from my smartphone but my new smartphone has no 3.5mm jack.
I have a male-male cable which I ran from the iMic to the phone - now the PC, if possible.
The iMic has in and out 3.5mm sockets, and a toggle switch of Line and Mic.
Can I loop the audio from the audio playing on the PC to Audacity recorder on the same PC?

Can't you just record from the audio card's "What you hear" or "speakers" or "loopback" device? That is the audio that's sent to the speakers. You may need to install the audio device manufacturer's driver to get it.

Have you tried connecting your new smartphone to your PC using Bluetooth connection, assuming you have a Bluetooth capability on your PC?
Also you can probably play the same online radio channels using your PC unless they are special radio channels. Have you tried that?

Actually I am trying to record from BBC radio (using a VPN), which I can also play through BBC Sounds on my PC instead of of my phone.
I tried the settings in the screen shot.
Can someone say if my iMic setting is correct?: I have it on 'mic' (not 'line') and the 3.5mm jack going to 'in' from the pc jack output.

I myself use the (revived) RadioSure, really nothing beats that for internet radio on the PC.
If your station is listed you can record the native streams directly.
Make sure you update the radio stations database!

Aha, that is a different user case of course.
Again, as an alternative, you could use a browser download manager or plugin to download the recordings directly?
Not sure if this works on all BBC archive material you want but this is for example using the well known Video Download Helper plugin:

Thanks for the plugin advice. I got it and ran it with BBC Sounds audio I want but it just remaining in a 'Waiting for Media' status when I played the audio. How did you get it to display as in your screenshot? S
Still not having luck with iMic, have tried many settings.

It may take several seconds after pressing play (in the browser) for the audio to start playing and the plugin to detect the stream. After pressing the download button in Video Download Helper it took 40 seconds before the download began, then about 3 minutes to finish downloading a 30 minute mp3 file.
