I am making some back ups for my DVDs and just wanna know if I need to have a DVD drive on my computer or a DVD burner? Thanks for the help, Bye! :-?

You need a DVD ROM to rip DVD's to your hard disk. You then convert them to (S)VCD and burn them onto a CDR or CDRW.
If you want to burn your (S)VCD's to a DVDR/W media or make a copy of the DVD disk then you need a DVD burner.
