  1. Hello everyone - I'm a long time veiwer of the forums and guide reader - but this is my frist time I've ever needed to post.

I've been encoding and converting for a while, but never had to do anything wild or unusual when it comes to making vcds or Svcds -

my dvd rips are on 2 svcds - my [cough]theater rips[cough] are on 2 vcds....I haven't invested much time into learning how to downgrade audio and video much- seems like too much hassle ...

    anyhow - down to my question [christ, I babble, don't I? ]

I got ahold of the monsters inc dvd [coughripcough] and when I went to encode it as 2 svcds using tmpeg - my end result mpeg2 had no sound. [arrrrg] this has happened once before, but only once, so I just deleted the file, and said screw it. That was back in my newbier days, and now I'd really like a back up of this .avi I have soo....

I threw the file into Virtual Dub- thinking to my self :
"gee, I'll just change the compression, and save it as another avi, and then I'll be good to go!!! yaaaaay!"

yeah, didn't work. I got this error -

"virtual dub has detected an improper vbr audio encoding in the .avi source file and will now rewrite with standard CBR values for better capability...38863 ms of skew from the video stream may be created...bitrate 148.7 +/- 36.1"

so I play it in v dub and I get big big sync problems....

when I throw the file in tMpeg to save the audio stream - I get another error as well---

rarrrg. I love you VCDhelp.com angels! please help me ---
