I have a sony slv799hf that works great except when it ejects a tape it seems to strain for just a moment then shoots the tape out fast and hard. I already removed loading mechanism and cleaned mode switch. I also checked for any binding in the gears and the loading mechanism and found none. I made sure all alignment marks were as they should be and I applied new lubricant to all necessary places. Yet the tape still ejects really hard and fast. It will literally shoot out onto the floor if I weren't there to catch it. Any help is greatly appreciated, and if I have posted incorrectly I apologize. I am new at this

Check visually if one side of the tape is being pushed out harder then the other.

I have checked and it seems pretty even to me. The tape starts to lift about 1/2 inch then struggles then ejects super hard. I can't visually see anything on the tape itself that is hanging up.

There is a shaft that passes the torque from a gear on one side of the loading tray to another gear on another side.
If either gear got cracked from the centre, then movement doesn't get passed properly.
You need to remove the tray completely and manually test the loading/unloading process, and check the gears for cracks. -
Thanks for the reply. I have had the tape tray completely out and I did an inspection of the gears, however I suppose I could have missed a hairline crack. The gears are black and the metal rod is a brass/copper color. I will remove tray again and do a closer inspection. It may be a few days before I report back with my findings. Thanks again for the suggestion. Any help is appreciated.

Once removed, push the gears on both sides into different direction. If there is a crack, the you would be able to turn them slightly with moderate force. If there is no crack, then the gears will stay in sync.

Yes, it's a known problem, affecting every Sony (including two of mine
).
You have to glue a lever together, and the repair is permanent. If you can't find a solution, I'll look for it, because I know where it is.
Unfortunately, you'll have to disassemble the device a bit.
Replacing it with another one won't help, because it will break anyway.
