NEVERMIND! (I tried to delete this post but can't find a way). The problem was I was pushing the wrong button on the remote! This machine has a different remote than most of my Pios, and the "Guide" button is where the record button usually is. When I pushed the right button, it worked

I'm still using a bunch of Pioneer recorders here in Los Angeles, and I thought i knew them pretty-well, but i have a bizarre new problem.

I've been using a 550HX to record from Beta and VHS video tapes, no problem! But I tried recording a computer output through an HDMI converter, and now I'm getting the message "This function cannot be used now because input line system is set to 525 system."

I've always recorded NTSC on this machine with no problems, but in the process of setting-up the HDMI converters, I briefly fed PAL into the machine, but all the inputs are getting NTSC now. I disconnected the HDMI converters just-in-case, tried unplugging the machine for a few minutes, double-checked the menus, etc.

The input and output video is set to NTSC and that's also what the fluorescent display says.

The message seems to indicated the machine is locked-out of recording NTSC - but how, why?

I do have the Pioneer service remote and I believe escape-clear will reset the machine, I haven't tried this yet but I could.

Has anyone else seen this message on a Pio? Why is it refusing to record NTSC?

    thanks!
