Hi. I have some DVD's of data files. Some of the DVD's are scratched, and I need to see if I can fix them by buffing out the scratches. Are there any software titles that show a visual display of a disc so I could buff out scratches in a particular area of the disc?

I don't know of any software that displays areas of a disk that have scratches. Try using your eyes with a magnifier lens.

First I have never had much success at buffing out scratches on a disc.
Some do & I probably do not have the right equipment.
Here is an alternative & will give some insight as to where the disc is damaged.
Try ISOPuzzle.
If it reads the whole disc to an .ISO then mount the .ISO in a virtual drive & burn a new data disc.
If it does not read the whole disc you will see red areas on the progress bar.
I have not found any documentation on this but I believe the scratches that are causing problems are in the area on the disc that corresponds to the red areas.
So if you see the red area in the middle the scratched or damaged area is in the middle.
ISOPuzzle can be set to read the disd forever So it will keep trying until you stop it.
It can also use all of your optical drives on the same .ISO.
You can even copy the .ISO & .FLG file to a different computer to use that computers optical drives.
