  1. Hi,

I just installed WidevineProxy2 addon for Firefox and have some questions on how to use it.

    1. What’s the difference between Widevine Device and Remote CDM?

    2. I downloaded remote.json from https://github.com/user-attachments/files/21834836/remote.json
and registered it in WidevineProxy2 but when I played the test video at https://github.com/DevLARLEY/WidevineProxy2/tree/5ab84cc68a389db1a6e74135c702a8b6ade7eded WidevineProxy2 didn’t respond accordingly.

    3. Are there any difference for conventional usage among all the files at https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/413719-Ready-to-use-CDMs-available-here%21? Why is it called Android Studio? Does it matter for Windows usage?

Widevine Device (.wvd) is a CDM on your computer, which you can download from the "Ready-to-use-CDM" link. Remote CDM means it's not on your device and hosted online so you would provide a URL for that instead.

You should download some CDM's from the "Ready-to-use-CDM" link and select/load one of them from WidevineProxy2, most websites will work then.

For conventional usage... no... just download some of them and load 1 in the extension and you'll be good to go.

Android studio means it was extracted from an android ROM in android studio (emulated).

  3. Thanks. WidevineProxy2 accepts only two types of files: wvd file for Widevine Device and json file for Remote CDM, but there are two files in one zip file: client_id and private_key.pem. How to use these files at https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/413719-Ready-to-use-CDMs-available-here%21?

  4. This one has lots of WVD's.

Just select "choose file" in the extension and load a wvd. If one doesn't work, try a different one. With most free services they will work, but they might not work for premium like AMZN/NFX.

  5. The video on GH isn't a test video, it's an instructional video for you to watch. The test video is at Bitmovin

  9. I can verify this addon is installed successfully but what shall I do with it? Can I download this DRM video or just watch it online with this tool?

  10. Copy the command from "CMD" box (this is a command for N_m3u8DL-RE )

    You need to download N_m3u8DL-RE

You will also need shaka packager and mp4decrypt.

Put N_m3u8DL-RE, shaka packager and mp4decrypt all in 1 folder - then open a terminal in that folder and paste the link and the video will download.
