I have Pinn Studio and Dazzle v.23.2.4
The dazzle is DVC100 and is black with a blue light on it
In the Dazzle programme I cannot get sound
S video and composite are connected to a Sony Digital8 camcorder dcr-trv265e and only work on the S-video input in Dazzle
Am I missing drivers ?
In Device manager the Audio driver is dated 04/25 for the DVC100
And the video driver is dated 10/20
Historically, I remember reading there could be a driver issue
Any help appreciated !

Neither s-video nor composite video carries sound. You need to connect the audio outputs of the camcorder to the capture device.
-
Thanks
The composite cable has 3 connectors - the red and white I thought carried L & R sound.... -
Yes, the red and white connectors are audio, the yellow connector composite video. You didn't mention connecting the red/white cables to the DVC100 previously.
-
dcr-trv265e doesn't have RCA connectors for component video and L/R audio.
You need a special A/V cable with 3.5 mm jack on one end and 3 RCA connectors on the other. It will carry those 3 signals. -
I got this one ??

No, not a driver issue. How are you determining there's no audio? There are two types of DV files, one with explicit video and audio streams, the other with a single stream that's marked as video but also includes the audio. Many programs don't see the audio in the second type and I suspect that is what you have. Which type you get is determined by the capture software.

Using the black dazzle, I can get a picture in Pinn Studio for Dazzle 23.2.4 and record it, but on playback on the computer there is no sound
The drop down menu to choose Composite or S-Video import only gets a signal on S-Video - even though only the white, red and yellow leads are connected to the camera and Dazzle ????
Here is the Audio input:

That's such a terrible capture card. Not suggested. Barely better than an Easycap (aka Easycrap).

My 2 cents concerning currently available USB capture dongles - if you have to take the analog route for your DV camera:
The I-O DATA GV-USB2 is my preference. (Beware of fakes floating around).
The Hauppauge USB-live2 (former version with former drivers) used to be ok as well. Had some issues with its latest driver update though. Currently there is a new HW version of the USB-live2 with new drivers. As I don't have it I can't comment.
How to capture lossless YUV 4:2:2 using these devices has been discussed many times in this forum, do a search - I am just lazy to provide some links.
I can't help you with Pinnacle Studio.
Edit: Your sound issue, from the SONY manual:

The DV bridge to USB is a good reason. The recommended Pinnacle cards work well on windows 10 with Virtualdub if he is going to do an analog capture. A windows 7 PC can be found for really cheap anyways online. There is absolutely no reason to buy a out of production card when you have modern cards performing better or equal, for example the cards mentioned by Sharc.
-
It is an old card out of production, found used on the market. Buy a new card, that is better or at least equivalent in performances. For DV capture other solutions exist (although Pinnacle is nice for its USB output).
-
Have you used a Pinnacle 510 and why do you think that those cards are equivalent?
