hello, i'm ordering a dvr-104 in the next few days, it comes with power director but i decided to download nero as most people seem to use this for dvd burning.
However after downloading version 5.5.8.0 the dvd burn option did'nt appear so i downloaded the newest version, 5.5.8.2 but the dvd burn options still did not ap[pear.
Why? is it because i need to have a dvd burner installed first?
And i downloaded the right versions i can tell when they load up.
Please help i don't want to have to download another version!

  4. I don't believe that Nero's DVD options wil show up unless you have a DVD burner installed (they do not on the PC here that has no DVD burner, but show up on the PC which does have a DVD burner).

On another note, I'm not sure which OS the first poster uses, but the other 2 use XP Pro and Win2000, and I'd ask if they were logged on as an Administrator both when installing Nero, and if they have set any user permissions for non-administrators.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

i use windows me and i am not hooked up to a network so i have no administrator issues.
oh, you_are_alive, in response to something you said on another thread, when i loaded up nero 5.5.8.2 it came up as nero express but when i entered in a serial number it changed back to regular nero too.why's that? anyway, the dvd burn options might appear when i install the 104, but if thats the case i find it strange that nero does'nt even mention dvd burning in the help files.

  6. I only log on as Administrator always. Also, I think thats it then, you need a DVD writer. I guess I should just use my authoring software to also burn my movie. Mirror Image, have you made miniDVDs and XSVCDs? I know quality is different to everyone, but between these 2 formats, with lets say a bitrate of 3000, which one looks better on TV when played off your set top player?

  7. Thanks boss for the reply from the other thread. I think we need a DVD writer. Let us know what happens after you install the 104, and if Nero changes afterwards.

  8. Even if you do not own a DVD-Recoder, you can test the DVD
support by burning DVD images which can be burnt on supported
DVD-recorders In Nero go to "preferences" ... "expert settings"
and tick the "show all compilation types" checkbox.

  10. I did a search on the net and it came up with Double Density CD. It looks like it is a 1.3Gb cd-r. I never heard of it before, but you're never to old to learn.

    Greetings,

  11. I just did a search for the double density CDR and noticed that sony procuce them. Does'nt say if they are compatible with all cdrw though or if you need a special burner. These would be great if they worked with a regular burner, no more 2 disc vcd's. Anyone got anymore info on these discs, i'm surprised I hav'nt seen them mentioned on the forum before.

  12. From looking at this link DDCDR is not compatible with current CDRW burners, so with DVDr here I really don't see the point.
