I very often record series and movies broadcasted on commercial channels. I do this by using an Enigma2 (Vu+Duo4K) satellite receiver.
When I want to keep a specific recording, I remove the commercial skips before storing it on my NAS.
The edits are done by Wondershare UniConverter 15.
The problem: I have to manually search for the commercial skips and manually remove them.
I have to edit 4K recordings much more and this goes very slow on Uniconverter. My computer is a MacStudio M2 Max with 32GB RAM, normally fast enough.
Anno 2025 with AI and stuff, there must be an app what does the search for commercial skips automatically (and hopefully faster with 4K streams).
Does somebody knows about such an app. Using the MacStudio, it has to be a Mac app...

R u looking for paid options or strictly free ones?
What container are your recordings in? Ts, Mov, Mkv, Mp4?
Are you okay with a command-line macOS tools or do you require a GUI app?
For macOS, tools can be GUI (VideoProc, VideoReDo) or CLI (Comskip + tsMuxeR/ffmpeg)
with lossless re-muxing.
if auto commercial removal is not a must? then I would highly recommend:
Losslesscut for Mac, free, and has extensive cut format import functionality.Last edited by videoAI; 31st Aug 2025 at 08:16.
