Using Subtitle Edit 3.6.10 to ocr pgs subtitles, saving as srt. After muxing with the video (a smaller file re-encode), watching the video via USB in a blu-ray player connected to TV, occasionally a word at the end of a line won't display. It shows normally on a computer.
It's not because there are too many characters on a line, since longer lines will show on my TV.
I don't think the display duration time is relevant. The problem can be fixed by breaking the line in two (assuming it's a single line sub), and that doesn't effect the duration.
But I have to make a list of errors while I watch the video which is annoying and time consuming. There must be an auto fix for this, yes?

You are using an older subtitle edit, update to 4.0.1.3 to see if that corrects it.

    I did and it didn't.

Is it something simple like the TV or Blu-ray player cropping the video?
Maybe compare video frames on the TV and the PC.

Maybe your tv is set to overscan.

It's a relatively older Sony Bravia, 32". I don't think it has an overscan setting. Plus, why would longer subs (number of characters) display? I agree that it seems like a TV issue, but it doesn't make sense, and I'm not planning on replacing it. Maybe the problem is the OCRing is following the pgs subs line breaks. Maybe I should have the editor eliminate line breaks, then break up lines that are too long. It won't follow the originals exactly, but it might work better for my situation.

Your tv is set to overscan automatically,it's not the length of the words that matter, just where the last word shows up,in subtitle edit just reduce the length of words so the last word isn't placed in the overscan area.

That's a little confusing because I would think the number of characters should matter, and the editor goes by number of characters. Even if it went by number of words, it's still inconsistent since more words are displayed elsewhere. Unless the editor has a magical Overscan setting, I'd have to break up lines based on much fewer characters per line, which might lead to 3 lines of subs.

This from a thread found here: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1113758
On the Bravia I selected HOME > Settings > Setup > Screen Settings > Display Area
    It was set to NORMAL
I changed it to FULL PIXEL
Changing this to Full Pixel solved the over scan issue and dramatically improved picture quality as I now had a 1 to 1 pixel match meaning that the electronics in the Bravia did not have to calculate any pixel values only simply put each received pixel value into the appropriate pixel location.
May be worth checking to see if you can do the same, or similar.

Thanks, interesting suggestion. On my TV, there are 3 options for Display Area: "Normal, -1, -2." The negative numbers zoom in the picture slightly, and don't help with cut-off words.

I did read somewhere that you actually have to have a video playing to have the "Full Pixel" option show up.

Yes, that section of the onscreen menu was greyed out until I played the video in question, but as I wrote, there are only 3 options. "Pixel" must be on a later model.

Well...looks like setting the "Break/split long lines" option to a certain number of characters (fewer than the default) will split the lines where most of the cut-off words occurred. So that might be the solution for my TV, although I thought there were longer lines that displayed normally.
    Thanks for the suggestions.
