  1. Every now and then I come across a high quality divx dvd rip and want to convert it in TMPGenc to MPEG-2 so I can put it on a DVD. About 25% of the time I get and "Illegal Floating Point Error." There are frames in which it cannot decompress. I tried fixing it in Virtualdub but that gives me an error when I try to fix it there too. Any ideas?

  2. I've had the same errors with a couple of DivX movies that i tried to convert to VCD with TMPGEncoder.

The only cause i could find was with the resolution/aspect ratio of the DivX.
I was going to resize the DivX with VirtualDub to a resolution/aspect ratio that TMPGEncoder would handle but the loss in quality from the original DivX then resized then converted with TMPGEncoder was too much.
So i gave up on these particular DivX movies.

  3. This is in the wrong board but the error is because the frame is messed up it probably freezes when you watch the movie there are a number of ways to fix the problem but I don't know them. I always downloaded the movie over again, if you are downloading the movie don't stop it or you will have the froozen frames.

  4. If the problem is an error with the DivX file then perhaps try loading it in Virtual Dub.
Select Scan Video Stream For Errors.. on the Video menu.
Then save the file again - would Direct Stream Copy work or would you have to recompress it?

    Martin.
