Hello, I've been experimenting with cleaning/restoring various LD rips and LD transfers to DVD titles like "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1968)" and "The Day Of The Triffids (1962)". Are these telecined?

I'm wondering if its possible to accomplish the same process/possibly even better than:
    https://openmodeldb.info/models/2x-Pooh-V4

    with either Staxrip, or Hybrid?

I have both installed, and I have pretty much every addon for Staxrip installed, and I have quite a few installed for Hybrid. I'm not an expert at either program but I've experimented with both, and have had pretty good results with both, but I know the community would know alot more than me about this subject.
I have both on LD, but I don't have any player ATM to transfer them myself, so I've been resorting to buying the inferior transfers of the various DVD releases of those titles. The sources are either interlaced, or "mixed" because at times it appears deinterlaced, and at other times interlaced.
anyway to clean those dotcrawl/chroma bleeding/rainbow more efficiently than QTGMC+DeRainbow+DotkillT? I've researched and am interested in "TComb" (or something better?) and was wondering if anyone had any experience using that for this type of purpose. Thank you

  2. you would need to share a sample of your source for others to judge whether a source is interlaced/telecined/field-shifted/progressive or something else,..

  3. That clip is not telecined.
Bobbing the content, there is real change when going through it frame-by-frame (checked first 50 frames). => content is interlaced.

Ps.: SSIQ+BiFrost help with the rainbow artifacts. (some of the red borders are still present, but over all way better)

I like the result of those suggestions, thank you for your help

  5. Annoyed by the color shift (and 'rainbow corners'), I looked at what happens if I simply threw away all the colors and used HAVC with default settings to color the clip. (see attachment, so maybe for some scenes it might not be too bad of an idea to 'simply' 'guess' the colors *gig*)

    Ahahahah

I love it! yes, the original couldn't get much worse. Nice and neat! Thank you, Selur. Can something like this be "Layered" over the original source?
Do you know of any model or process that can automatically stabilize or enhance a sources current colors? probably wishful thinking on my part.

  7. Sorry, don't know of any filter or similar which would automatically adjust the colors.
You, theoretically, can combine the original with the automatically colored version whoever you want, but I know of no automatic and sensible way to do it.

  9. Another thing you can try is applying SSIQ like multiple times in a row.

    (applied it 10 times here)
but be warned, that is really slow

    Hello,
Do I render out the file applying the SSIQ Filter ten different times, or can I apply it with once with 10 passes?

  12. I applied the filter 10times (less might be enough).
No clue what "apply it with once with 10 passes" means.

You must be a very lonely person to be so rude. I pity you.

  14. ?? I do not get it ??
Sorry, I guess, must be a translation problem.

I try to rephrase what I wrote:

    I simply called:
    Code:
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
    SSIQ(strength=300)
but less than 10 are probably enough.
This is what I would call "applying the SSIQ Filter ten different times".
I do not understand the meaning you want to convey when you say "can I apply it with once with 10 passes".

Who was that directed at?? You have received nothing but amazing, helpful, courteous advice. If it was a translation problem, let us all know.
