    Hello,
I recently bought a Magnavox MDR867H/F7 and the remote that came with it will not work because it is set to RC3. So I bought a new replacement remote and it worked out of the box showing me RC1. However, all of a sudden it is showing RC3 now instead of RC1 like it did to begin with and it won't work with said DVD player/recorder. I've tried all the recommendations in the manual but nothing will return the remote to RC1. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

  2. I did some searching.I do not have a unit like yours. I wish my older Magnavox DVRs did.
This was not much help but may point you in the right direction.

Thanks, but I've tried this and it doesn't work.

  4. You might try leaving the batteries out of the remote for 24 hours to see if this will clear the memory.

Or try a universal remote control & try several codes to find the one that works for your Magnavox MDR867H/F7.

  6. On a side note my Magnavox DVRs are H2160MW9's.
They do not have the selectable RC feature.
I have to use some aluminum plates I made & keep those in front of the DVR's I'm not using at the time.
Moving them manually when I need to.
It would be nice to have this feature.
Many years ago I had a RCA VCR that had 2 RC's.
This worked & I never had a problem with them.
My main universal remote is a MX-600.

Do you think the MX-600 or similar remote would work with my MDR867H?

It might. It is a learning remote.
So far mine has worked with all devices I have tried with it.
Several of the Magnavox codes might also work your MDR867H.
It should be able to learn any button on your original remote or the replacement.
The same for the replacement remote.
There are newer remotes in the MX series but I do not know if those would work better.
It has the JP-1 update jack but good luck on finding updates for any remote that has this.

Thanks for the suggestions and your time. I'll check into a universal as I don't think the original or replacement remotes are going to work (which is very unusual to me).

  10. Does the Magnavox MDR867H/F7 have a "factory reset" method?
My Magnavox DVR's have menu reset.
Then inside the DVR there is a black button microswitch reset.

Then on some units you use the "control" buttons on the DVR to do a factory reset.
I'm not sure with your Magnavox MDR867H/F7 as I did not dig that deep in the manual.

    Unplugging the DVR may help.
Leave it unplugged for at least 15 minutes.

    I found this:
    #8 it a reset button.

I'm gonna stay away from opening the DVR up. I don't see any control buttons. I have tried the reset on the back but that didn't work. thanks again.

  12. After looking closer at the manual.
The reset is the button accessible from the rear panel.
So no need to open your DVR.
I wish mine was like that.

The "control"buttons are the Play,FF,RR,Channel up & down & Power.
These are not what are used on your DVR as far as I can tell.
On some units these bring up a "Hidden" service menu.

I guess the next step would be to contact support for the Remote Control manufacturer.
You never posted a model number for the remote.
Universal remotes usually have a factory reset method.
