Simply copy the VCD. I don't know whether Nero is a good solution, because I don't use it. If your burner support RAW mode, CloneCD or CDRWIN are excellent copy tools.

  3. First, try using Nero's Copy Disk function. That should give you a copy.

Other than that, I could be totally wrong here, but I swear that when I put a VCD into my PC and opened Windows Explorer on that drive, it gave me a directory listing with all the files. In one of those folders was the .mpg file.

You should be able to extract out anything you want from these directories.

As for re-burning, if the above copy method doesn't work, I presume you could always drag-and-drop all the folder contents into the appropriate places in Nero's VCD creation screen.

  4. On a VCD the video files are .DAT files. (usually something like AVSEQ01.DAT in the MPEGAV directory) They are not strictly mpg files although you can copy them to your machine and change the extension to .mpg and it will play in media player. However, if you want to rip the video file back into .mpg format from a vcd disc you should use a program like VCDGear that will do it for you. After you've done that, you can re-burn the vcd using nero.

On earlier versions of nero I had problems copying vcd's for some reason... (can't remember the error message) but with the more recent versions I have successfully done a CD-Copy of one vcd to a blank cdr and the copied vcd worked.

I have had problems making straight disc copies of VCDs. After a few coasters I settled on CDRWin as being the best for me.

When I first started copying vcds I had the same problem. The salesperson sold me Nero claiming that it was the best, which I am sure it is for lots of stuff. However, it was a little overkill for just copying. I downloaded a trial of clonecd and ever since thats all I use for strictly copying. As for nero, I am trying to make vcds of files that I download and I am still having problems. and I cant find no damn clear, simple directions!

    Peace,
