I know this question has been asked before but most of the posts are unclear to me. I'm trying to convert a DIVX movie thats in widescreen format to VCD format and keep the widescreen aspect ratio. I eventually want to play it on my large screen tv. I'm using TMPGenc to do my converting. Initially i select the Aspect Ratio to be 16:9 525 line (NTSC) and then under the advanced settings i change the Video Arrange Method to "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio). After doing all this and converting the movie, it looks as if the black bars are too thick now and the movie is now shrunk. The top and bottom bars probably take up 50% of the screen instead of the usual 25% or so on my real DVD's. Am i doing something wrong or do you think this is what the aspect ratio is on this film? Btw, i'm using Nero to burn my VCD.

  2. 16:9 will work if your t.v. is widesreen. If not use 4:3 ntsc and under the advance tab select vga1:1. then full screen keep ratio. This should give you what you want. What I would do is burn a small clip maybe 1 minute or so on a cd-rw. Look at it to see if that's what you want then make changes if needed and you save a cd-r disc in the process.
