Can you recommend a type of deinterlacing for this video? I've tried several but they leave a ghosting effect.

Try using the bwdif filter in ffmpeg

@ListDoM: BWDIF on its own isn't enough. It will create blends, since the source is telecined (with a none fixed pattern), some decimation or frame replacement needs to take place for those to not appear. (Tested with bwdif on its own, and as expected the blends where there.)
