Hello, I have a BD rip (full disc in folder with files, not ISO) which apparently, as far as I have been able to find out (I have not ripped it myself), has no region lock (being a rip, I understand that almost all ripping programs remove the region lock when dumping, and neither DVDFab nor PowerDVD warn me that the disc has any region lock when I open it with these programs).

The problem is that I can't play it. I have tried everything: PowerDVD, VLC, Kodi.... in all the programs the same thing happens: I get a message saying that the region of the disc does not match the region of the player. This message is from the BD itself, it's one of the m2ts videos inside.

What I suspect is that the structure of the BD (it's a BD-J, by the way) is prepared to check the disc's region (originally it's from region A) against the player's, and not to continue if the check is not OK. And of course, "empty" zone is not equal to whatever zone it is checking at the moment (in VLC for example, you can change the zone at will, in the end it's a software issue, like the player I understand VLC is emulating for example).

So at this point, and without access to the original disc, I can only think of two things: either somehow restore the disc's region (I do not know if it is possible) or tweak the structure with some app and force it to jump to the main menu or something like that.

I understand that in this forum there will be experts in BD authoring, so I hope someone can help me. I can upload the BD folder privately to anyone who wants to take a look at it.

Thanks in advance.

PS: Would this be better on the ripping subforum?
