    With some modifications (up to point for making form) method is fine but probably better results will be use epoxy compound and steel (fine wire) to reinforce epoxy - long term stability may be better than cyanoacrylate (generally cyanoacrylates are prone to fail in presence of humidity which is itself important for their curing but later make them more fragile and eventually cracking).

    Well, using fine wire (like these in steel wool) should be OK to reinforce epoxy - alternatively some glass fibers can be used too, epoxy resin is pretty fragile. Shear strength for epoxy is better than cyanoacrylates but still not so big... Reinforcing may significantly improve this.

    Depends on the size of the gears, The smaller the gear the harder to repair or remake, Anything less than a US nickel coin is a pain.
