  1. Am far, far from being an expert, so please bear with me.
    Also, this is something I very occasionally do and so far I have always been a bit unsure as to whether the settings I use are correct.

    Please would somewith with more knowledge of MKVToolNix have a look at the attached screenshot.

    Are these the correct settings so as to have nl subtitle always be displayed?

  2. If you deselect the two subtitle tracks, they will not be copied and therefore the default flag for these tracks has no meaning.
    If you want the nl subtitle always displayed, you must set the forced flag for it.
    However, many TV players ignore this flag and you have to explicitly select the subtitle.

    EDIT:
    Alternatively, you can burn the subtitle into the video; it will then always be visible, but you can no longer switch it off.
