  1. Hi, I came to log in to my Lenovo laptop this morning, but discovered the password to sign into Windows wouldn't work. I didn't use the laptop yesterday something which I don't often do, but the password wouldn't work and there was no way I could retrieve it; all it would say when I clicked on "Forgot password" was:

The user profile service failed the sign in
    User profile cannot be loaded

I have had alot of problems with this laptop particularly when it comes to RAM and HDD space and freezes and crashes at times when opening different tabs on youtube, but never had any issues logging in.

Anyone know what's causing this?; has someone changed the password or there's a virus?.

  2. Could be a file system problem.
Boot to the revocery environement and go to command promt.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-recovery-environment-0eb14733-6301...6-06a12b42770b

    In the command promt enter:
    chkdsk C: /F
    and click enter.

Wait until finished and restart your laptop.

I tried the 3 steps in the link to get into the recovery environment, but all that Windows did was just display an error message after it noticed it had been shut down by pressing the power button 3 times and just went into the log in screen as normal. No Automatic Repair screen appeared.

You can try to reset/remove the password with a recovery/rescue WinPe, for example Hiren’s BootCD PE

Hiren’s BootCD PE: HOWTOs - Resetting Windows Password

There are other ways, but this is a more easy way to do it.

Better solve those problems first then.
I assume you are using a SSD, using Windows 10/11 without SSD is a unbearable.

Then try to press F8 several times immediately when booting.
