Does anyone know how to rip dvd's and convert them to vcd on linux?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Or you can use the mencvcd script supplied with recent MPlayer builds.
Mplayer:
http://www.mplayerhq.hu
Download a source distribution (Mplayer-0.90pre7.tar.bz2 for instance).
Unpack it, and look under the TOOLS directory.
To use it you also need the following tools:- mjpegtools v1.6 http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/mjpeg/
vcdimager http://www.vcdimager.org/
cdrdao http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/
lame http://www.mp3dev.org/mp3/
