  1. Windows 10
I am 62 years old and don't have much technical knowledge.

I've been trying to use makeMKV as well as WinX products, such as WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, WinX video Converter Deluxe, WinX AI, WinX DVD copy Pro

No matter what I do, no matter where I look, I cannot reliably Rip a DVD and PRESERVE THE MENU. Without the ability to use subtitles the rip is useless. In March 2025, where is there a one hundred percent virus free utility that will rip the MENU.

I rip and ISO file, and then EVERY single software will NOT 'see" that ISO file.
Mount to a virtual drive....yeah, no once "mounted" NOTHING WILL SEE THE ISO FILE.

You can extract the iso file content with 7-Zip and the menu will stay.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  3. MPCBE, PotPlayer, and VLC can play ISO images with menus. Windows can mount ISO images and make them appear to be DVDs that any DVD player software can play. Right click on the file and select Mount.

Try VLC Player. Right-click>Open With>VLC Media Player

Are you sure you're trying to open an ISO? Is ".ISO" shown as the file extension?

Yes. I should mention I'd vastly prefer to use free tools, having already paid a lot for a WinX suite.
At the moment, right clicking .ISO and selecting "mount" in Windows is creating something that VLC will recognize and play as if it were a physical DVD, including the much needed menu, especially English subtitles on foreign language movies. So, at the moment, this issue seems to be solved for me. I hope others find this thread / solution. Thank you for your help.

VLC should be able to do that opening the ISO directly. There's no need to mount the ISO file first.
