  1. What program can transfer VTT subs to SRT just as text? I saw in Subtitle Edit that the Save as SRT option retained all the VTT coding.

    This simply helps anyone who does corrections to look through less extra info on the sub.

    In subtitle edit, you can select all dialogue lines, right click > Remove formatting > Remove all formatting

    I wouldn't trust any website for online editing of anything,i use subtitle edit for all my subs.

    You can use clever FFmpeg-GUI.
    Load your vtt (or a movie with a vtt subtitle track), click main page, click convert subtitle stream.
    Select you subtitle stream (if more then one), set convert to subrip or text, click convert.
    Done.
