Is there a free program similar to calibre that will work for movies and TV shows I don't want to here about using kodi and such. I just want a program that can keep a full list of all the movies and TV shows I have without needing the hard drives to be plugged in at all times. For example I would like to have the hard drives plugged into the desktop while I have the program on my laptop so I can see all the movies and TV shows and all there info without needing to turn on the desktop or look up the info from a online list. I would like something on the laptop at all times where I can add and remove the names from the program as I see fit depending on if I remove or add something.

So I'm looking for something similar to calibre or media companion. On media companion it can save the folder view but not once its been removed. But with media companion it helps find the metadata and such but I already have the details I just need a program that can show it to me in a list and then I click the poster or cover art and then it pops up a page showing me all the details for the movie/TV Show or Episode.

    Dose something like this exist?

Try a search like Movie Catalog Software and you might find some free ones. I've never tried any though.

This question brings back memories. Many years ago as my movie and tv show collection grew I was toying a lot with Visual VB6 back then so I wrote an app that created an MS Access movie database where I could add the movie title, actors, genre, year, description etc... It would show a list of all the titles and related info as you scanned the list and stopped on a particular title. To narrow down the list you could do a search for example by actor and it would parse and find every movie in the db with that name in the actor field and then only display that list of movies titles. All fields could be searched even the movie details/description. It was manual entry only and it worked but wasn't pretty and I never got around to adding images. It was a work in progress among many other VB apps. I'm sure what you'll find online today is far superior to what I did back then but it does bring back old times. Funny thing is I installed VB6 tried it on my win10 pc and it works (lol)
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

You can try using XAMPP for Windows (if this is your O/S)
