Pot Player error - DirectX audio driver is not installed .......

Full error:

Failed to start playback
It is not possible to play the audio
DirectX audio driver is not installed or not installed correctly
Please note that some systems require that the output device (headphones, speakers) be connected for audio to be used.

The PC is running Windows 10, 64 bit

This is happening with MKV files which do play just fine on this Win 10 PC with VLC and other media players, so I'm not sure what's up with Pot Player.

Any ideas please?

Use mediainfo to find out the details (view>text) and compare them; see what's different (video and audio codecs, etc)
