Error 'Scsi error when trying to backup a dvd to my computer. How to Fix?

Tried backing up a dvd to my windows 11 computer. Backup failed. It gave me this error message. It says to change drive region. I have no idea on how to do this. Then I went to the link they provided to update the firmware. It said to select a drive model. I really don't know what drive they want me to update. There was a long list of models to choose from. None of them looked familiar to me. My dvd drive was not on the list. My drive was plug and play. it did not come with firmware.
I'm really puzzled as to what I can do to get it to backup. Please lots of detailed advice would really be appreciated! Thanks!

what program are you using to backup the DVD ?? try makemkv

If the error says to change the region on the DVD drive, that can be done, however there a limited number of times you can do that. If it is telling you that, it means the DVD came from a region different from the one set on the DVD drive. You might not want to do that until it is verified what region the DVD is question came from and what region you are in.
Then clarify what needs to be done to make the DVD copy to play in your home region.
The "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GUE1N ME03 KWFJ6HI4903" would indicate the DVD drive is a Hitachi-LG DVD Burner.

Confused about regions. It plays on my USA dvd players. So shouldn’t it be a region 1 dvd?oh and thanks for your help!
My burner is a roofull burner. Maybe it is made by Hitachi or LG????
How can I verify the region on this dvd? So ZI can change it? Is there a way to see if it has already been changed before and how many changes it has left? Thanks!!!!

Assuming Windows OS - open Device Manager. Click on the DVD/CD arrow to display the drive. When that window opens the model number of the drive will show. Double left Click on the drive
Under the "General" tab it will show how it is connected and the model number.
Under the "DVD Region" tab it will show the DVD Region it is set on. It will also show the number of changes left.
For this question - "It plays on my USA dvd players. So shouldn’t it be a region 1 dvd?" Yes, that is correct. Unless you have an "all regions" player.

I did what you said. It shows dvd is region 1 with 3 changes left. So if it is a region 1 dvd which is a USA playable dvd, why does it say to change the region?
What about the other errors? What do I do to get this dvd with its error to be able to down load it? Thanks

I noticed that in that error line it also says " has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware."
I suspect that the software being used cannot get past the copy protection and that was just a suggested way to by-pass the spot where the issue of this occurred.

What software was in use when that happened? I suggest trying different software.
By the way: What did Device Manager identify the drive as? Brand and model number.

Tried downloading it again and got this message using makemkv.
It is already in the right region. Region 1. Why is it still saying not in the right region?

the error you are getting "Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR WITHOUT AUTHENTICATION"
run Makemkv "as administrator" see if that works.
