DVDShrink can merge ISOs or folders. Just add them using the Open Disc Image or Open option. Years ago when I used to backup to discs, I split my DVD-9 into two DVD-5, then later merged them back into a DVD-9 for recovery. The second disc has a short "Insert disc 1" message that you have to remove manually. IIRC, it appears as a separate IFO and VIDEO_TS.

As with PCGEdit, the menu will work only if the two parts are from the original DVD-9

The link davenet posted for videohelp will work fine.
I have never had a problem with a download from videohelp.
If you do want to download ImgBurn from the ImgBurn website choose one to the mirrors including the #7 which is the web site.

I can not say whether the DVDShrink would have merged this DVD back togather with all menu buttons working as they did with the DVD9 Full Movie rip.I doubt that it would .
I know that the DVDFab Merge function did not do this.
I will give it a try sometime in the next few days with DVDShrink after I do the split with DVDFab.

The installation file you download should be the same on all the mirrors.
So you only need to download one.

  8. @ lingyi,
I did the commercial DVD split with DVDFab.
Then I tried to open the files with DVDShrink.
DVDShrink immediately gave an invalid DVD structure error & would not open the split DVD folder Disc 1.
To me this means that DVDShrink will not merge the Split DVDFab creates.

As it was already mentioned, ripping should not have any effect on the quality of the playback since the 'rip' should be identical to what's on the DVD.

Personally, I use DVD Decrypter first, then AnyDVD if Decrypter fails (I have an old license for AnyDVD), and I *always* rip to an .iso file with them.

If both fails then I try MakeMKV next, but failure at that point is often a sign of some issue with the DVD, so MakeMKV may or may not help at that point. However, certain players have much better error correction than others, and can read DVDs that fail on most players.

DVD Decrypter is a 'forced abandonware' and so it is totally free, but even before that, it was only a 'donationware'.

I've used DVD Shrink before, and it made perfect sense 15 - 20 years ago, but given the current HDD and blank optical media prices -- I don't see much reason to use it any more.

DVDShrink can be set for DVD9 so there is no compression.

It can also be "picky" so good to spot a problem DVD.

I also have the old AnyDVD HD & it still works well with DVDShrink.

    I like & use DVDShrink's Analyze features.
Some do not like the logarithms DVDShrink uses for this but I find they improve most rips.
    To me eyes.

You could also try the old DVD Smith. Over many years I have never encountered a DVD that it can't copy.
