  1. QUESTION: If working with an SD video captured at 720x480, are these the correct settings to use in Hybrid to produce a new video file that is most likely to display properly without widening the image so everyone looks large or narrowing the image so everyone looks skinny?

Settings for video where one does not crop from the sides:
    • Picture crop: none
    • Target resolution: 720x480
    • Input PAR: 8x9
    • Output PAR: 8x9

Settings for video where one does crop 8 from the left side and right side:
    • Picture crop: 0,8,8,0
    • Target resolution: 704x480
    • Input PAR: 10x11
    • Output PAR: 10x11

  2. PAR (=Pixel Aspect Ratio) is independent of cropping! (changing the PAR, because you cropped, does not make any sense)
10x11 is usually used for NTSC MPEG-4 content with a DAR of 4:3.
8x9 is usually used for NTSC Generic (usually MPEG-2) content with a 4:3 DAR.
You might want to read [INFO] About pixel aspect ratios,.. and ideally the sites linked there.

"SD video captured at 720x480" so likely some SD NTSC content,...
