I was tempted yesterday to order a website service and paid using credit card, but failed to check the service provider reviews beforehand.
I got an email message that my payment was successful but there wasn't any details how to login.
When I tried to contact the support asking for login credentials, I got no reply. Asked several more times and still no reply since yesterday.
Then I read the reviews and there were many negative reviews about how bad the service is and not to make any payments.
My question is how can I get my money back? Can I ask my bank for chargeback or is there another way?
What worries me is that they might continue to charge me over the coming months and one review suggested to cancel the credit card and ask for a new one.
Anyone with similar bad experience will be very welcome to comment.
    Thanks for all suggestions.

  2. Call the toll free number on the back of your credit card, explain the situation, and have them reverse the charge.

Does this story involve women or gigolos?

I second this. As long as it would not be an embarrassment and admin does allow such to be done.

Knowing the nation/territory the hdqs of this entity would help a lot with coming up with options to handle this sort of matter. I put forth that helping in such a situation is a necessary public service on the Net.

There really are not enough law enforcement assets yet deployed to cover all such incidents. The true scope of what this Net is still isn't clear to those in authority, so in some cases (maybe too many) we have to help ourselves.

This is not a website that would be of interest to other members here.

My point is that we should always do a search beforehand about a website that we are not familiar with. Look for it on sites like Trustpilot that list scam sites and see if there are any negative reviews. Even then some positive reviews can be the result of the site giving incentive of some sort to write positive reviews.

When it comes to payment, avoid paying with credit card and pay with PayPal because you have a better protection with them. If you can't pay with PayPal then move away from the site, there is a good reason why the site doesn't want to work with PayPal.

  7. Are you going to let us know if you were successful at getting the charges reversed? That would be a sort of learning process for some folks, I think.

BUT, I am wondering why you feel compelled to offer a lesson about doing a kind of background check on ANY entity anyone might run into that has a product of interest? I mean, do you honestly believe that younger folks aren't being taught that these days? I am not trying to be mean in asking. I am just super curious why you feel that is a lesson that needs repeating here? Or anywhere on the Net? I thought that was a so common lesson that parents taught their kids from way, way back when the parents first started giving the kid an allowance. Truthfully, I'm just curious.

BUT there could be value in learning if (and how) you got your money back. But don't mention the credit card company, as the admin fella here might not care for that. Not good to get that credit card company upset with us here. Or upset at you.

Funny, but that brings to mind a question; I wonder if credit card companies keep a special list and if a customer tries to charge something to a company on that special list the credit card company refuses? I've either forgotten (very possible with my old, glitchy brain) - - - either forgotten, or never bothered to ask that question before.
