I bought a new tv a few weeks ago. Everything I need, but this guy doesn't support Dolby Vision.
I have a few movies only in DV, so playing them back gives a reddish picture.

On this TV, an AppleTV is connected. Playing back the movie files using Infuse Pro converts this real time to HDR10. One problem: the movie files also have Dolby Atmos on a TrueHD track. The ATV doesn't support TrueHD.

It would be nice if there's an app which can convert a Dolby Vision movie to a normal HDR10 file (without dynamic metadata) or even better HDR10+

Does someone has experience with this? And hopefully it exists on MacOS..

    thanks!

Chances are these videos are Dolby Vision pofile 5. It uses Dolby proprietary colorspace.

In case of profile 8 or 7, these already have a hdr base-layer to which a player can go back to. It shouldn't be necessary to take out the dynamic metadata as a non-compatible player would ignore it.

Can't help you with converting to HDR10+.

You can be right. I remember a certain movie which indeed gave a Dolby Vision pop-up in my previous TV. Using the native app Plex on my actual TV, the picture is fine. In the picture settings there's a HDR mark. I previously thought this file has two kind of "layers". DV if possible, if not a fallback to normal HDR.

Maybe the newer DV movies always use profile 8 or 7, or is this completely rubbish?

Newer DoVi 4K movies can be profile 5, 7 or 8. Profile 5 has no fallback. Profile 7 and 8 have a HDR HEVC baselayer.

Thanks for the info. Time will tell.
Crazy there's no software to convert it, because AppleTV devices do it real time.
