If this is in the wrong sub-forum then may someone kindly move it.

TBH I watch very little tv and now I can watch even less.

I had planned on watching the rubgy this evening but even ITVx has changed. My old Win7/Chrome browser is no longer supported. Also ITV on Freesat SD has been turned off.

So if I want to watch any ITV I must resort to a streaming add-on for my HD tv. (BBC iplayer is ok on the PC)

It seems to me that Roku or Firestick fit my requirements. But which is most reliable and do they work with 'older' routers ? May be I am wrong but I guess that Chromecast simple casts from my browser and if that requires a more updated one then that will not work.

Welcome any comments (Do not want to pay a fortune given the limited viewing I will employ)

We have the Roku streaming Stick 4K and it has proved to be reliable. We had the Roku Express to start with, deciding we didn't need 4K since we then only had a FHD TV, but it proved unreliable, often losing its wi-fi connection and needing a reboot. So we got the 4K stick and used it constantly until we got a UHD "smart" TV. It still gets used occasionally as it can load channels the Android TV cannot. No experience with the Firestick.

Chromecast with GoogleTV isn't only for "casting". It has many of the same big commercial streaming apps as Roku. I don't know UK specific apps though, I'm in the USA.

    Allow me try another approach.

Now I know there are topics about downloading ITVx. I am not interested in downloading and I guess that many who contribute in these topics are NOT UK based.

So the question is what OS/Browser combination is used given that my Win7/Chrome are no longer supported.

Thank you. Finally, a proper answer.

Why I could not find that support page I know not. Let's put it down to old age
