  1. Hello everyone!
I hope someone can help me.
I want to remove audios and subtitles from a DVD, that in principle is not difficult because even with CloneDVD it can be done

The problem is that the audio and subtitle info then remain in the players' context menus despite not existing

I have tried DVDRemake but it does not seem possible either because it seems that the audio I want to remove is the main one and the secondary one is "chained" to the main one

A cordial greeting and thank you

  2. I'll try to explain this better. This is a DVD that has added subtitles. It didn't originally have any, nor is it accessible from the subtitles menu.
What I want is to completely remove the subtitles and their associated information. Do I need a re-author for this?

With CloneDVD and other similar programs I can remove the subtitles, but the information remains on the PC players.

  3. With PgcEdit, right-click on the PGC containing the subtitles, select Domain tracks attributes and delete the information about the subtitle track. OK the dialog.
Now, double-click the same PGC to open the PGC editor. In the top right corner, click the Subpicture track (it should contain 4 numbers). In the dialog, click Disable.
    Save.

Note that this works well to remove ALL or the LAST subtitle from the list. If you want to, say, remove only the first one and leave others subtitles in place, it's a bit more complicated.

Note also that this will not physically remove the subtitle track from the VOB files, but you should not see the option to select them any more. Anyway, a subtitle track doesn't occupy much disc space, so this should not be a problem.
Also, if there is a subtitle selection menu, it will not be modified.

Thank you very much for the help, I will try and comment

  5. r0lZ, thanks a lot,

It worked. Simple and perfectly explained.

To do the same thing but with audio chains... how would it work?

Well I've already seen that it's basically almost the same process!

  7. What do you mean with "audio chains" ?
In a DVD, there are audio streams and audio tracks. The stream is what is physically present in the VOB files.
The track is the information present in the IFO, referencing the stream. (In fact, both are called officially stream, but I have adopted the terminology of mpucoder, much more logical.)

Anyway, yes, the principle to remove an audio track is identical. However, the audio stream occupies more disc space than a subtitle stream. Therefore, it might be important to remove it from the VOB. And that's not a job for PgcEdit.
