I have mobile phone model Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge. It is old but I like the size and I don't want to upgrade for a number of reasons.
Anyway I got a notification today that the battery has reduced performance. I am able to charge it to 100% and it doesn't discharge quickly but this might be a warning to start thinking about replacing the battery.
As battery replacement isn't as easy as before I will need to take the mobile to a service shop to replace the battery.
What I would like to ask is what do I need to do in order to keep my private messages from the eyes of the servicing shop?
Will taking out the SIM and the SD card be enough?
    Thanks for your advise.

  4. Battery replacement is very easy to do yourself. The back will come off if you lift it gently then the internal battery will lift out and can be replaced. There are battery replacement kits for doing this that include a tool to help lift the back off and a new pre-glued surround gasket to stick the back on again. The battery has a connecting cable and plug so just pull it and push the new one in. Takes about 5 minutes. The charge indicator will take a few cycles to recalibrate but the phone will be like new again.

Thanks. I have seen some videos and they use some kind of a heating torch at the back in order to peel it off. I don't have this.

  6. I have never had to use a heat source to soften the glue. As long as you do it in reasonably warm conditions and work around the edges gently it is quite easy to do. The kits include a plastic tool to help you. It isn't glue holding the back on, it is actually a thin band of double sided sticky tape, a kind of gasket that fits around the edge of the back. The kits include a new one, a bit tricky to transfer to the phone but not too hard if you take your time.
