  1. I Have just used DVDStyler and found it good to use however when I try to burn a DVD it keeps asking for a blank disc despite trying known good media . I can creat ISO files OK. but it seems that it does not reconise the DVD device. Any ideas ? running win 11

So what is this 'known good media' ?

Also have you burnt any disks before ? I do not know how Win11 reports hardware but are you sure you actually have a dvd-burner and not a simple dvd-player.

  3. The media it rejected I later tried in an old XP laptop and it burnt a video OK. The drive is shown as D: DVD/CD R/W and I can burn audio CD's no problem.

  4. Install ImgBurn if you do not have it.
    Select Tools/Drive/Capabilities .
That should give you a lot more information about the drives write capabilities.

Also the actual drive model information not just "D: DVD/CD R/W".
Then try a burn with ImgBurn.
You do not need to create an .ISO.
Just use Mode/Build & Browse for a folder.
Use the VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD you want to burn(Write).

  5. There were drives that could read and write CDs but could only read DVDs.

ImgBurn has a test mode (checkbox) that goes through the motions (doesn't actually burn the disk), but leaves a log file that may have relevant information.
