  1. I am after a very good quality DVD ripping solution.
I have done 100's of movies into XVCD and played them on my standalone DVD. I was thinking about ripping movies into DIVX and connect my TV to my PC(and it takes up only one CD). Would i be get much better quality.

only if you know how to use divx, other wise just rip to mpeg. I was working with divx before i was riping dvds and i find that mpeg is much better but thats my opinion.
Static is in the minds and hearts of all mankind the sad part is... that we never fully comprehend the concept that is static.

  3. it should be SVCD or DIVX.....VCDs absolutely suck....if you plan on watching your dvd rips on a standalone dvd player, best bet is to rip to SVCD (however, make sure your dvd player will support SVCDs)
