CD-RECORDABLE.COM has a line of both INKJET and THERMAL printable DVD-Rs.

  3. I think I have looked there and all I have seen is DVDRs that have the gold reflector surface. Any that have a Silver color recordable surface or something close to it?

Yeah, well look again. The DVD-Rs available at this URL are called "Brilliant White" Inkjet Printable DVD-R Media. About as far from gold colored as you can get.

They also have a "Low Luster" white injet recordable DVD-R. These are about $4-5 each.

  5. Yeah... the inkjet printable surface is "Brilliant White" or "Low Luster" but what does the recording surface look like? Gold? Green? Im looking for something that looks closer to the Silver color that the "real" DVDs look like. I want a Professional looking DVD..one that most resembles the DVDs that you rent or buy from the big studios. Any suggestions???

    Thanks!!

  6. Most people receiving a professional DVD from a small production house don't care what the reflectivity is as long as it is printed nicely & works well.

Now if someone wanted to, hypothetically, borrow a DVD, make a copy that looked like the real one & substitute it when returning it (or to make clone disks like in Asia) that would require something like you are asking.

Well, you're talking about the recording dye. As far as I know, there are no silver colored DVD-R dyes available. The only color that I have seen is purplish.
