problem with recording using the MRC1K unit on the DCR-TRV20

I just got an MRC1K unit and a DCR-TRV20, but when I press both recording buttons on the unit, it doesn't record. However, when I try it with an HVX200, it works perfectly fine.
Just found out it actually freeze when it connected to my camera
The setup:

MRC1K with an NP-F550 battery and a Kingston 16GB CF card.
DCR-TRV20 with an NP-QM91D battery. Also, when I switch to VTR/VCR mode, it just flickers and shuts off, and I'm not sure why.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Turn out the DV port was broken lol
