  1. As the subject suggests, I'm not sure if MakeMKV can do this or not. I have 2 cuts of the same film that use seamless branching. Is it advised to use MakeMKV for this or doesn't it handle it properly? If not, what would you do? I'm not certain the best method for ripping 2 different cuts that use seamless branching without it having some sort of noticeable skip or such.
    Thanks,
    J

It's known that with a seamlessly branched disc, MakeMKV can drop a stitch. There's a workaround:

1 With MakeMKV, create full-disc back-up: File --> Backup. Be sure to check "Decrypt video files".
2 Load the rip in DGDemux for demuxing.
3 Resulting streams can be imported in MKVToolNix for mkv muxing.

  3. Thanks. DGDemux I've never tried before but I'm sure it's no more complex than most software for the same things. Does "drop a stitch" mean miss a frame or something?

Yes, DGDemux is easy to use, the GUI is self explaining.

I don't exactly know what goes wrong with MakeMKV and seamless branched, but sometimes I have experienced playback stuttering or ending at the welding point. Note that handling a seamlessly branched disc is actually about smoothly removing double frames.

It's usually hit sometimes miss. Most stuff I've ripped seamless angle 1 and angle 2 etc to two separate files and had no glitch.some Ive had glitches. The ones with glitches usually had open gops and it lasted until the next key frame. Properly authored multi angle discs with closed gops should have no issue.
if all else fails read the manual
