  1. Does anyone know what recent optical drives work with Opti Drive Control? Specifically, the disc quality and FE/TE tests.

I have an older Lite-On IHBS112 that works fine with it, but a newer external Verbatim 43889 do not support the needed functions.

  3. I actually read that section before posting, and that is why I asked about *recent* optical drives, meaning a drive that I can buy new, or at least unused in a form of NOS item.

Listed working was LiteOn, BenQ, Samsung, Optiarc/Nec and some Plextors. BenQ and Plextor are out, and I don't think they ever made a BD writer. Optiarc has no BD writer listed on their website any more, LiteON has one external model left, and looks like Samsung has maybe some old external writers.

For half size internal drives, I see Asus, LG, and Pioneer. There are at least three externals sold under the Verbatim label, but at least one of them is made by Pioneer. I think there may be some more slimline, internal optical drives intended for OEMs, but they are not usually sold by retail and more difficult to search.
