I was messing around with TMPGENC and I tried encoding an MPEG 1 (in order to burn as a VCD in Nero) but I wanted the resolution to be 480 x 480 instead of the standard VCD size. I tried burning in nero as a non-standard VCD, and went to play it in my DVD player.
It played back at normal-speed video, distorted high-speed audio, and with green lines all over the picture.
I then opened the SVCD template in nero, dragged in the same MPG, and burned a non-standard SVCD. It worked perfectly in my DVD player!
So if anyone's having trouble with non-standard MPG's (I know people are using VBR to get long movies on 1 CD) try burning as an SVCD..

yes, it supports totally standard VCD's as well as seemingly anything i drag-and-burn into the SVCD template in nero
I've made standard SVCD's which play fine, too.
