  1. I've been trying, so far seems like NO. Does anyone know otherwise?
Memorex DVD-R disk burned in a new iMAC with 4.5 gigs of mp3's on it. The disk is fine and reads perfectly on the iMAC.
In both my PC's, one with Pioneer DVD-104S and the other with DVD-105S drives, the drives accept the disk as good and don't spit it out. If you try to access the disk though it screws up. Error.
"D:/ is not accessible. Incorrect Function."

Has anyone else tried this? Is it a file storage PC/MAC difference problem? or a dvd-r problem? Would a different dvd-rom work? scrounging for solutions...

Macs only burn data DVDs using the HFS+ file system via the Finder, making data DVD-Rs unusable in PCs.

You cannot yet burn a hybrid PC/Mac data DVD in a Mac via the Finder.

I think you can get away with burning a "DVD-Video" via Toast Titanium without video files on it, and instead put lots of data files on it ... in your case, MP3 files. Burning the disc this way will ensure the DVD is written in UDF format, which is readable in PC-DVD ROM drives.

  3. Ok, it is a file format problem.
I installed MacDrive 2000 and I can read the CD woo!
Now does anyone know of a freeware program that does the same thing... I don't have $50 to pay for MacDrive...

  4. How did you burn your Mp3 Disc ?
If you want to use it on other players like
standalone DVD (with Mp3) or PC you should use Mp3 disc format or ISO
on a iMac you can do this with iTunes or Toast
it should not matter if it's a DVD-R or CD-R(W)
allso it's posible to burn PC-ISOs with orginal mac soft (under X of course)
in this case you have to use diskcopy to create/burn

  5. Yeah, I should of used one of those programs to burn it.
When I inserted the DVD, the iMAC asked to format it. Then I had the disk icon on the desktop. I just dragged all the mp3's onto the icon, it said copying, and I controll-clicked and told it to burn the disk.

So if I used one of those programs to burn all the files onto the DVD, then I could force it to burn in a format PC would understand without a add-in program?

  6. O.K I'll explain it in slo-mo using OS X

First: building a Mp3 standard disk (based on ISO 9660 standard - readable for PC etc)

    1. open iTunes
    2. create a new library and drag your selection of mp3 on it
    3. select preferences from the menuebar
    4. select Cd Burning from the preferences window
    5. enable the Mp3-CD radio button
    6. close the preferences window
    7. switch to your mp3 selection library in iTunes
    8. click burn (clicking on the metal eyeshield in the right upper corner of iTunes)
    9. iTunes will ask you to insert a burnable disk
now its your turn put in a burnable DVD-R CD-R or what ever you'll burn
    10. take a cup of coffee (or tee) and wait
    11. If you hear a bing your toast is ready

Second. Burning a other format MS-DOS, UNIX etc
    with Diskcopy(not Discburner/Finder)

Hmm I'll explain it later this is a long story
