Newbie here and I'm so glad I found this forum. When I want to import pictures to my project the file opens but not all the pictures are included only partial. How get I get the file to show all the pictures in that file? I have Windows10. Thank you

Try re-booting. Do you mean the folder opens but doesn't display all the picture files?

Make sure that the file formats you are trying to import are compatible with your version of Pinnacle 20.
-
I tried re-booting and yes, when I open the folder it doesn't display all the pictures. I'm 78 so I don't know about formats.
-
File formats are also known as image formats for the purposes of this discussion; jpg, png, bmp are some examples. Each image should have a 3 letter extension, e.g. Image1.png, Image2.jpg, Image3.bmp.
A Google search I did turned up the following image formats that Pinnacle will accept: BMP, GIF, JPG, JPS, J2K, PCX, PNG, PSD, TGA, TIF, WMF. Look to see if the pictures that will not import have a different extension. If so, that could be why Pinnacle will not import them. -
Wait, I'm sorry. I take that back. The picture that I want to import was taken with an iPhone but I have some pictures in that file that were taken with an iPhone. I don't know what format an iPhone takes but there are some there.
-
What I meant to say is some of the pictures from my PC that were taken by an iPhone were imported to Pinnacle but not all of them. That is the problem.

So there must be something different about those jpeg files that Pinnacle doesn't like. Really hard to tell you what to do next unless you can upload one of the problem photos somewhere so that one of the experts here can look at it.

Make sure you have file name extensions visible in Windows
so you can see what you have -
iPhones are now creating HEIC format images rather than jpg. These need to be converted to jpg before bringing into something like Studio 20.
Good discussion here
As Davexnet says you need to make the file extensions visible in Windows explorer to know what you’re dealing with.

I tried to download a picture for someone to take at but this is what I got. jfif - Invalid File
-
MSpaint can open/convert these files. Open the file and save it as .PNG and see if that is acceptable to Pinnacle.
If not save as JPG (but you might lose a very small amount of the image quality)Last edited by davexnet; 24th Nov 2024 at 19:12.

I tried to save the picture as .PNG but I can only save to JPEG or "all files." I tried "all files" which was my only other choice that I could chose and that didn't work either. Why when I tried save to JPEG is switches to .jfif? By the way did Apple make some changes because as I mention in the past I didn't have a problem uploading pictures taken by my iPhone that I but on my PC and uploading to Pinnacle? I thought I had been saving all my pictures to JPEG but I guess Apple won't let me save it that way? So frustrating!!!

I'm using Paint in Windows 10.
It can open jfif files and it can save them as png.
Post some screen shots, it may explain the problem more clearly -
I tried to post a picture but this the prompt that came up.( See upload) I'm not sure how to do the paint thing.
-
The forum doesn't know about jfif files so it's not accepted.
If you want to upload one, zip it first (Winzip or 7zip) -
One of his posts says that the files are jpeg, now they are jfif. So which is it. A internet search says that Iphone does not create jfif files.

I apologize for the confusion. I just talked to Apple and in the camera settings there are two settings, High Efficiency and Most Compatible. So at some point my camera was for whatever reason set on High Efficiency so I changed it to Most Compatible and now the photos that I take are in JPEG format. The tech said there's an app to change the photos on my phone from jfif to JPEG. I haven't been able to find it in the app store but I'll keep trying. If I can't find the app I still need to try what davexnet suggested using paint or winzip. Thank you
