  1. Looking for a GUI (no scripting) way to download a small number of shows from Channel 4. I don't want automation, batches, or downloading entire series. Just a few episodes. (Win 7)

  2. Thanks so much. Are these two alternative options or do I need to use them together?

They both seem way over my head. I have no idea what terms mean such as:
    'Copy as fetch' input
    L3 CDM
    mpd
    license cURL

And that's just a few examples. I feel like everyone here must have a PhD in video or coding! I've been downloading videos since the 90s but I'm not familiar with any of these terms.

  3. Alternative options. If you are not willing to learn how to handle DRM downloads, you are stuck with the commercial alternatives.

If however you want to learn, start with the Decryption series threads by Angela from the stickies. You don't need a PhD for this stuff.

Third alternative is a browser plugin: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/416316-%5BRelease%5D-WidevineProxy2-Extension-Bypa...s-Lic-wrapping - all you need to install is the plugin, a CDM file and two additional applications "N_m3u8DL-RE" and "mp4decrypt" that do the download and decryption for you. The applications unfortunately (?) are command line tools, but you can copy the needed command line for your download from the browser plugin. And trust me: it doesn't get any easier.

To clarify what a L3 CDM is in just some words: it handles the decryption of the encrypted movie. You'll find better explanations if you use a search machine of your choice.

I spent weeks building a GUI for use with Devine. It if was so easy the forum would be full of them.

Anyway, if you've got the time to figure out how to install/set up Devine, then you can use your GUI until your hearts content.

I won't hold my breath though

  5. Well, can we both agree that neither scripting nor making a gui is easy ?
