I just extracted a scratched up old DVD recording that is close to 20 years old, using ISOBuster, since my PC was saying it was blank. The ISO file plays fine in the media player and is very good quality with no noticeable artifacts despite the scuffs on the discs. But for some reason, the ISO wont load when i open it in DGIndex, i've tried MakeMKV, no luck again, even trying to extract the VOB files with 7Zip, nothing.

I should note i had to leave ISOBuster on overnight as it took a while to get the ISO off the disc. And marked it as "Replace with all zeroes"

What other options do i have, other than screen recording the video whilst it's playing?

Have you tried burning the ISO file to a new DVD disk?

  3. Mount the ISO in Windows Explorer. Copy the contents to a folder on you hard drive. In that folder, copy all the BUP files over the IFO files. E.g, COPY VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO, etc. Now try playing that folder. That will replace all the IFO files with the backup copies -- in case one of them is corrupt.

I tried this too, it burned. But still having trouble ripping it. Extracted the ISO from it in ISOBuster again. Still corrupted.

  7. Have you tried mounting the .iso in a virtual drive for example Virtual CloneDrive ?

If that doesn't work give IsoPuzzle a try.

Using ISoBuster, you can extract the individual video files without the need to create an ISO file.
If nothing works, contact the IsoBuster developer for support since you have a license and ask for help, perhaps you can send him the ISO file as a download link.
What is interesting is that you say you can play the videos in Media Player so why can't you extract the videos?

What DVD is it exactly, from a DVD recorder?
Does the DVD(R) play with any mediaplayer/dvd player?
And what does IsoBuster say about the disk?
    Tracks/(Multi)Sessions/Closed/finalized?

Try with other DVD reader if available?
