  1. Hi! I had Panasonic DMR-E85H with which I recorded many DVD´s. Problem is that my Panasonic broke down maybe 10 years ago and after that I haven't been able to play those DVDs with other machine because they were unfinalized. Now after years I was going to think that I want same kind of machine somewhere so I can watch them and maybe do that finalizing also.. but quoestion is should it be that exactly same model (DMR-E85H) so I can play them or is it enoght that it´s only same brand? Example Panasonic DMR-E500H ?

You don't need to buy another DVD player or writer. There is a risk that they will not finalize your discs and that would be disappointing.
If you decide to buy a DVD player, then buy the same model DMR-E85H if you can find it.

I had the same problem few weeks ago and ordered Isobuster software.
It will not finalize your disks because the software isn't allowed to write to the disks. But you will be able to extract all the files on the disks (if none is corrupted).
Isobuster license costs $60. If the DVD player replacement costs less then it is up to you to decide which way to go.
The Isobuster trial will tell you what is on each disk but you will not be able to extract any files.

  3. ImgBurn has a "Close" feature That sometimes works.
    Tools\Drive\Close.
Sometime Session works better than Disc depending on how the disc was written.

I have 3 different models of Magnavox & I believe they can finalize each others discs.
I would need to test to be certain since it has been a long time since I did not finalize a disc.

I do not know if it is the same with Panasonic.

If you are going the software option, then you will need a DVD Player connected to your PC so that you can extract all the files from the disks and copy them to your computer HDD.

Any Panasonic DVDR should be able to finalize your discs, all Panasonics use the same operating system. Not that I'm not suggesting ISOBUSTER but if you prefer not to use a PC then just pickup any working Panasonic DVDR and you should be good to go.
Note pre '04 Panasonics won't have a thumbnail view, if that's important to you. A link to a thread listing the various N. American DVDRs.
