The past few times I've tried to create a waveform using Subtitle Edit 3.3.11 it has been really slow. It used to create the waveform in a matter of minutes, but lately it's been going at such a slow speed that it would take several hours. I should mention that I'm using a laptop, so I don't know if it's a memory issue, but I have 130 gb of free space on my hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? I know that 3.4.11 is an old version, but it has features that the newer versions do not. I've tried using but VLC and FFmpeg to create the waveform.

Try uninstalling Subtitle Edit, shutdown laptop, start again and reinstall the latest version. If the waveforms load as normal then you can reinstall your current version.

Ok I tried that and I can form the waveform with the latest version of Subtitle Edit, but I prefer Subtitle Edit 3.4.11 because it has some features that I like better than the newer versions. The problem persists with 3.4.11.
I have Windows 11 64-bit on my laptop.
On my desktop pc I can get 3.4.11 to form the waveform, but I travel a lot and am not at my desktop pc much. My laptop is an HP EliteBook 820 G3. -
