Does the drive show up properly in the Device Manager?
(Can also look in MSinfo32 /components/problem devices)

Also check the Device Manager for errors, USB, Portable Devices, DVD/CD Rom Drives, etc.

Take a look to see if anything is mentioned for lower or upper filter drivers -
    ImgBurn/tools/filter driver load order

If's possible try the unit on a second PC.

But what I would like to see is the ACTUAL unit the OP has (or a link to its purchase). And it seems strange to me that several individuals have burning issues. Surely they do all do not have the same unit and if the unit supports usb power out of the box then it should work out of the box without recourse to either alternative power or another casing. In either of these scenarios the unit is faulty and should be returned.
I have not looked for complaints about the OP's optical drive.
Since you found several it appears this drive has problems.

I posted about one of my enclosures to show that some enclosures can be a problem.

I also would like to know the model of the enclosure so maybe the chip could be determined.
A computer USB ports may have enough power for a USB enclosure.
That would depend on the power supply of the computer.
If the power supply wattage is just barely able to run the computer it may not have enough left to power an enclosure with optical drive.

This is my own experience with using USB power for a device:
I have a small HDD powered only by USB.
It works fine with my computer but it will not play on my TV or settop BD player USB.
It won't even light up to show it is being powered.
The HDD I use most of the time for this is in an external enclosure that is powered with a wall wart.
    It works fine.
The point is the USB power may or may not be enough.

I have not, nor will not, download this video - you could have uploaded that as an attachment to a reply.

Even then that is NOT what was asked for. You purchsed the enclosure online. All that is asked for >> The online link to the shop and the item which should go in to detail about it.

Well if this is what you bought..

    1. You paid far too much for it. Similar one are for sale at appr. $35 and do claim to write meia.
    2. I have looked it up that unit's specs and I see no dvd writing capabilities (although it mentions 8x) A CD writer, yes. A dvd reader, yes.

  7. This is a link for a manual for this drive.
    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://advdownload....a7gcJZ_Ula3Ugd

    It supports what DB83 posted.
I would return this drive for a refund if possible.

    This is my best enclosure:
    https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NST-536S3-BK-NexStar-External-Enclosure/dp/B01MRUN0HQ?th=1
Then buy a regular size optical drive to install in it.
I'm not going to recommend a brand for the optical drive.
There are many good brands & most people have their own opinions.

  8. Thank you everyone. Unfortunately for me, I somehow can't ask the seller for a refund. But I would buy a new one instead. Can you give me some recommendations in which I can burn DVD instead?

Edit: NexStar is unfortunately unaffordable for me at the moment.

I can probably point you to some but since my drives are internal I could not recc. one.

Also we do not know you location. Little point in suggesting a unit from a US site (even Fleabay) if you are based in another country and vice-versa
