  1. Hello

    I have some large Wav audio files i need to reduce without quality loss to mp3. Can anyone tell me the best free audio compressor available?

  2. There is no such conversion as "lossless" .mp3.
    You can usually create good quality .mp3s if you have a good audio file to start with.
    If the .wavs you have sound good then they should be a good source.

    I usually use dbPoweramp for conversion.
    I have the free version 10.1 & I set it up many years ago.
    It is version 10.1 & no longer available.
    dbPoweramp does have a 21 day free trial & it is supposed to have full function for the trial.
    I have not tested this though.

    For others:
    EAC can convert to a good quality .mp3 if you have the CD to rip from.
    foobar2000 can also convert but not as many settings.
    Audacity can also do this.
    ffmpeg or with a ffmpeg GUI named Clever.

  3. If you need lossless compression then use lossless codec for example FLAC, MP3 is lossy codec as such there is not possible to encode PCM into mp3 losslessly.
