I recently did my first VCD conversion and burn. Everything seemed to go well, but I have a sound sync problem. Played on the PC it works fine, played on a standalone DVD the sound ends up way out of sync with the picture. I'm sure it's something obvious, but...........
Anyone any ideas?

The original file was a divx. I seperated the audio track with virtualdub, then converted using TMPGEnc. Burned using Nero. When playing the CD, the audio runs fine, but every so often the video hops, skips and jumps. After about 15 minutes the video and audio are seperated by several seconds.

Does the vcd you made play correctly in your cdrom? Is it a standard vcd fromat or use vbr? Why not try loading the divx avi into TMPGENC and avoid separting the audio and video.

Another thing to try is this. I had the same problem a few days ago and this cleared it right up for me. Open the divx with Virtual dub, 1.Select under Audio->Full processing mode.
2. Select Audio->Compression and select <No compression (PCM)>
3. Select Audio->Conversion.
Change the the Sampling rate to 44100Hz if you are going to make VCD or SVCD MPEGs.
Have you tried this yet? This fixed my problem perfectly. -
I followed a guide that I saw on here, apart from using Nero instead of VCD easy. I did set to No compression and sampling to 44100Hz.
Maybe my cheap DVD player is the problem, or maybe it's the discs I'm using...
The only time I tried using TMPGenc previously, I didn't seperate the sound first, and got a silent movie!!
Oh well, I'll just keep trying, and thanks for the ideas...I do appreciate the help.
